Staples out!

Rosie had another follow-up visit with her surgeon and her progress is good! They took her staples out and the incision looks great. Beginning this week she can be out of her crate when she is supervised to prevent jumping.

So far, So good!

Today we took Rosie back to ATA today for a follow-up appointment. Dr. Lewis was very happy with her progress so far. We learned that during the exploratory surgery they found a luxating patella and bone spurs, all of which he repaired. Rosie should be feeling MUCH BETTER when she finishes her recovery time!!!! We will follow-up again next Monday for staple removal. In the meantime, we need to continue to confine Rosie so that we can restrict her movement and allow her body to heal. She has taken that very well, and she is being quite calm and affectionate with us.

Post Op!

Rosie had her right stifle (hind knee) repaired and secured with tension wire. She will have to be confined to a crate for some weeks for recovery, but we are quite hopeful that she will be feeling much better soon!

Immediately after the surgery she was really out of it from the anesthesia-- completely disoriented and afraid and acting very nutty. But by morning she was allowing us to pet her and hold her and she was eating some food.

We will keep you all posted on her road to rehab on here. Thanks so very much to everyone who has made a donation to help pay for her surgery. It turned out to be very, very expensive and Cats' Angels could use some more donations to pay off the bill.

Rosie Needs Surgery!!

Last Wednesday we took Rosie to Animal Trustees of Austin to have her limp evaluated. Dr. Lewis took xrays and discovered that poor Rosie needs surgery! She has a painful bone fragment near her right knee, and that quite possibly is contributing to her limp. Dr. Lewis has recommended exploratory surgery to remove the fragment and see if anything else is wrong. Unfortunately, the surgery is going to be extremely expensive. We are absolutely committed to making sure Rosie has the surgery and the care she needs-- but we need some donations to help! Please click on her PayPal Paw if you can help us with Rosie's medical bills. She will have her surgery on Monday, June 23rd.

Rosie has been here for just over a month and she has settled in nicely. She loves to sit on my desk while I work, and she loves to rest on the couch on Jason's office as well. During the day she naps on the roof of the house of her new cat tower. She readily accepts our caresses now and seeks out our company most of the time. These days she is a great purrer and gives us many affectionate rubs. We are becoming big fans of CALICOS!

Welcome Rosie!

We first heard about Rosie when we read about her in the No Kill Handbill:
ROSIE’S STORY
We have a gorgeous, front de-clawed cat that would like to leave the shelter- yesterday!
Rosie in Pen SB-26 # a502913- and has been here since March 8th.
Rosie is exhibiting some shelter stress now, if you can imagine. She’s been a shelter favorite, so we’d love to get her into a foster or permanent home soon. She likes petting, but just not here! This gorgeous, white domestic short-haired spayed female was owner surrendered due to “the lady’s son was mean to the cat”. She’s an extremely handsome cat, about 6 years old, weighing 12 pounds, with a calico tail and pretty facial markings. Her previous owner stated that Rosie is affectionate, playful, quiet and great with dogs and cats! You couldn’t ask for much more! Please consider Rosie for rescue! Please check out her picture; she’s very pretty! Rosie's deadline is Tuesday, May 13.
We had never fostered an adult cat before, but Rosie's story tugged at our heartstrings, so we invited this sweet girl into our home on May 14th. She was pretty traumatized by her time in the kill shelter-- and frankly not that thrilled with her new foster home (featuring a wild child foster kitten, a resident adult cat, plus many foster & resident dogs-- after all, this is a DOG RESCUE!!). She also has a limp we want to check out. None the less, we took the advice of the wonderful Cats' Angels pros and have let her come around in her own time. She now likes to sleep with us, and seeks us out during the day too. She is very gentle and loving... we know she would love her very own new Forever Family!-- but in the meantime we plan to treat her like the sweet princess she deserves to be. We also plan to take her to have her leg looked at.

Rosie is feeling social enough to attend Meet & Greet events beginning this weekend. Please Email us if you would like to meet her or have any other questions about her.
